Born in China and raised in the U.S., Lijie began writing little melodies as a little girl, but never took her songwriting seriously because she was raised to become anything other than an artist. It was in college, when her roommate brought a guitar into their room, that she began honing her songwriting skills. She has now performed on Fox 25 (Boston) and King 5’s New Day Show (Seattle), and also at colleges, clubs, coffee shops, living rooms and street corners, in Los Angeles, New York, Austin, London, Taipei, and China, Lijie followed her heart and chose music.  She has also established herself as an exceptional songwriter: songs from her albums Roam and the Music Maker have received recognition at UK Songwriting Contest, and have been used in various indie films and documentaries. "Still Want You (to be mine)", a co-written song, also won the Electronic/Dance category at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

In 2013, Lijie had the opportunity to join Kara DioGuardi's (American Idol judge) audition-only songwriting class at Berklee College of Music. "Glorious," one of the songs Lijie cowrote during the class, will be the main theme song in an upcoming animated film due out in 2016, directed by Ash Brannon (Toy Story), and starring Luke Wilson, Mae Whitman, J.K. Simmons, Matt Dillon, Kenan Thompson...

Lijie is currently based in Brooklyn, New York and is working on her third album. To help take the music to the next level, she is seeking a label/publishing deal.
